Liner
Notes
Many of the original CTI albums did not
include liner notes (although Japanese CTI compilations since 1970 all
contained notes in Japanese). Like Miles Davis, Creed Taylor believed
the music should speak for itself - and often, that was all that was
necessary. However, when reissued on CD, many CTI titles sported notes
that more often than not detailed facts about the music, the artists and
the world of CTI.
Notes for American/European CTI releases
have all been written or supervised by former CTI publicity manager,
Didier C. Deutsch, and notes for Japanese CTI CDs (all in Japanese) were
often assigned by the label's Japanese owners, King Records, to various
- mostly Japanese - writers.
The selection of liner notes presented
here doesn't even attempt to include the majority of notes written for
CTI releases over the years, but were written for CTI releases by the
organizers of this site and contain information that may be of value to aficionados
of CTI Records:
