Salvation

Salvation was created as a "gospel" subsidiary of the CTI label in 1972. It was initially devised to showcase the B. C. & M. Choir, which released the album Hello Sunshine for the label in 1972. But Salvation Records really never took off on its own until the release of percussionist Airto's 1974 secular release, Virgin Land. Thereafter, Salvation's few releases during 1974-75 focused on jazz and R & B releases that did not feature Creed Taylor's production or engineer Rudy Van Gelder's assistance. Between 1975 and 1977, three Roland Hanna records were also issued by the label - but only in Japan. Taylor tried launching the label again in 1982 with The Power The Glory And The Music, a collection of previously-issued CTI music alluding to gospel themes, and once more in 1996 with Faith Howard and Visions' strong, but little known gospel CD, He's Got Everything.
