In 1993, legendary producer Creed Taylor contracted with the German distribution firm, ZYX, to release his newly recorded CTI albums. The relationship also somehow permitted Taylor to reissue his earlier stand-out productions for the Bethlehem, ABC, Impulse and Verve labels. Nearly 30 recordings were released during this arrangement (the first 25 in 1993 and the remaining 4 in 1994) before Taylor halted the ZYX contract and began issuing only the newer recordings in Europe through TIM/Hommage. The ZYX arrangement, however, allowed nearly 30 of Creed Taylor's great pre-CTI recordings to be issued under the "CTI" banner - complete with all-new artwork, mostly designed by Taylor's son, Blake, and some featuring exciting new artwork by the always great photographer Pete Turner. While none of these productions are currently available as CTI - or "PDCTI" issues - most have been released in the United States and elsewhere via Universal's extensive Verve reissue program - with original graphics and, in some cases, added titles.
