The 5000 series was introduced in 1975 as a "pop series" of recordings (connoted by the inclusion of "PS" within the CTI logo appearing on sleeves CTI 5000 through CTI 7-5004). Initially, the recordings in this series carried a retail price tag $5.98, one dollar under the industry standard of the time and lower than the selling price of other CTI titles during this period.
